Ram Tour 2014
Rams in the Rockies Return from 2014 Engagement Tour
CSU Provost Rick Miranda and Vice President for Engagement Lou Swanson led a group of nearly 30 faculty on the 2014 Ram Tour, which traveled through south central Colorado on August 14 and 15. CSU Extension hosted several site visits on the tour. The tour is also supported by OnlinePlus and the Office of External Relations.
The CSU Ram Faculty Engagement Tour is a two-day traveling seminar designed for recently hired and newly tenured faculty, new administrators, and new student leaders. Invitations are issued through the CSU Provost Office. Each year, the tour will travel through a Colorado region to meet CSU community partners, talk with current CSU students and alumni, and learn from regional leaders. The tour deepens participants' understanding of CSU's existing community partnerships, and provides opportunities to network within and across faculty cohorts.
2014 Ram Tour stops included:
- 3CE Community Center, Westminster
- Hutchinson Ranch and Learning Center, Salida
- SteamPlant Event Center, Salida (http://www.salidasteamplant.com/)
- Royal Gorge, Canon City (http://royalgorgebridge.com/)
- U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs (http://www.usafa.af.mil/)
What are attendees saying?
“What a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our Engagement activities around the state by visiting with partners and colleagues who are working so effectively to represent CSU and to bring the assets of the University to every county in the state. Our new faculty were especially impressed with the reach and scope of CSU – it is truly the case that Colorado is our campus!”
-- Rick Miranda, Provost and Executive Vice President, 2014 Ram Tour
“We really appreciated the opportunity to come to know a bit more about our new state and to experience first-hand some of the very exciting initiatives fostered by CSU”
--Camille Dungy, Department of English, and Ray Black, Department of Ethnic Studies, 2014 Ram Tour
“The tour was both worthwhile and well organized. I appreciated the opportunity to get to know some of our new faculty and new campus leaders. What really struck me, though, were the opportunities to learn about the work of CSU Extension across the state. It was eye opening.”
-- Mike Palmquist, Associate Provost for Instructional Innovation
