Ram Tour 2017
Rams in the Rockies 2017: The CSU Ram Faculty Engagement Tour
CSU Provost Rick Miranda, Vice President for Engagement Lou Swanson and Associate Provost for Instructional Innovation Mike Palmquist led the fifth annual CSU Ram Faculty Engagement Tour to Vail on August 10 and 11. CSU alums and CSU Extension were among the hosts and presenters for the faculty group as they visited the Broncos Stadium and toured Gilpin County before reaching the Betty Ford Gardens in Vail. Faculty learned about county history, forest health, and alpine gardens; they took a “short course” from Native Plant Master volunteers at Sylvan Lake state park, and met 4H participants and community advisory board leaders. CSU Extension staff from Gilpin, Eagle, and Routt counties all participated in hosting this year’s tour.
The CSU Ram Faculty Engagement Tour is a two-day traveling seminar designed for recently hired and newly tenured faculty, new administrators, and new student leaders. Invitations are issued through the CSU Provost Office.
“The Ram Tour was an unforgettable experience. I was able to learn about the land grant mission of Colorado State University and to meet partners across Colorado,” said Ricki Ginsberg, a new assistant professor in the Department of English. “I feel as if I have been welcomed into the CSU family.”
Each year, the tour travels through a Colorado region to meet CSU community partners, talk with CSU alumni and students, and learn from regional leaders. The tour deepens participants' understanding of CSU's existing community partnerships, and provides opportunities to network within and across faculty cohorts. The tour is supported by the Vice President Office of Engagement and CSU Online.
